This is pretty neat man. I understand the time constraints, but it either should be longer OR you can make this better by having the music come to a conclusion instead of just cutting it off like that. I think that would be a massive improvement.

Good job!

Fantino7w7 responds:

thank you! if I understand what you say about the sound but I cut it in that segment at will : D

You should do a sequel to this.

That ending was great

Do a full game. I haven't really been all that intrigued by a game on here since Gravity Duck and I like this. I'd drop the 8-bit music, though. I know it's your thang or w/e, but it really doesn't go very well with your art style, if you ask me.

Cool but unsatisfactory... IN A GOOD WAY

I found the whole thing thouroughly enjoyable. Sure, I thought you could've done more with it but there's always the thought of doing a different project with the ideas from this project incorporated into the next. THEREFORE! It wasn't ACTUALLY unsatisfactory, to the extent of how cool it was, but then again WAS because of my lust for more. >.> In other words: I don't make sense.

No critique. That is awesome man. Really fits the art. Love the instrumentation, theremin type sound is perfect here.

When the industrial beat kicked in at 1:38, that really sold it for me!

satanicpotatoe responds:

Thanks!
I'm glad you liked it! :)

I like this and the art you used is really good too. I am having a little bit of a hard time understanding the interpretation of having these heavy guitars and stuff with the art given, but that sounds like a me problem lol.

I really enjoy the softer parts and there are a lot of neat ideas in here that make me go, "oooo," or remind me of things I've done myself. Love the introduction of violin/bowed strings here and is that a flute near the beginning? Making the strings sound like a synth with a gate on it is an awesome idea!

My critique would be the guitar panned on the right that comes in at 2:18 feels like it's "outside" of the mix. Maybe it just needs some more reverb?

I also am just having trouble relating this to the art. It does relate! Like I'm not saying it doesn't, what I mean is like, I feel like you are telling a story here that is more intricate than what I'm seeing on the surface here, but I just don't get it.

satanicpotatoe responds:

Thanks for the feedback!
I will look into that for the 2:18 guitar and maybe try it on a different monitoring as well.

Yes, you're right there's flute into the soft part.

As for the story, with the island lost among the dark clouds and lightning, it reminded me of a difficult return, where nostalgia is mixed with the effort of going back to one's roots, where a loved one has left a light in the naive hope of a return that stretches on.

Of all things, with my interest in metal, I tend to easily incorporate electric guitar everywhere like ketchup, you got me haha.

Potatoe's back, y'all! This is sounding great man.

I think the bass guitar needs turned up and the guitar tone at the solo needs more... Treble? If anybody else is reading this please correct me if I'm wrong, it needs the EQ tweaked in some way and I can't put my finger on how at the moment. I think it sounds a bit too "dark" in tone compared to everything else, like it needs to be crisped up.

That's it, that's my critique. What you've got fits the art and is 3 minutes of interesting riffs and definitely cohesive.

satanicpotatoe responds:

Hey thanks for the feedback SoulSecure!

I'll give it a try with your input bass/guitar wise and if it's sounds better I'll update the file ;)

Cheers!

This is a hilarious picture. I like that you used green as a background as I find it highly unusual for a picture of fast food to have a green background. I also appreciate the mustard tie, because ketchup on a hotdog to quote Clint Eastwood is "UnAmerican"

Diggin' the happy, skating penguin man.

Duuude! What's goin' on with that cray fret board? Is it only scalloped on the treble side?? That's madddd bro. Love the jazzmaster body style. My Electric mando is a jazzmaster body.

I can't figure out what the yellow round thing is on the bottom of the tub. An ashtray? Yeah, I think so. Sorry I can't really give any good advice here, I'm a musician. Came here from the AIM!

The art style is super!

carmine3 responds:

Haha, that's a great reaction. Thanks XD, I tried to copy like Yngwie's scalloped frets on the whole side but it's hard to draw from that high angle I chose, so it ended up looked kinda like the neck is facing towards the viewer and the whole guitar in italic font lol. But yes it's one of my dream guitar I wish to have :)

Oh the yellow thing is a tub drain(or whatevr its called)
